Reconstructive Surgery After Bariatric Surgery

Bariatric surgery can be very effective. However, there are some bariatric surgery results that can be undesired. These results deal with the impact on one's body image. While one's weight can be reduced there are some risks to watch for dealing with how the body's image will change after this surgery.

Reconstructive surgery after bariatric surgery can help to reduce these concerns though.

A major factor involving bariatric surgery is that after the digestive system is changed and the body begins to lose weight excess amounts of skin can appear around the body. These amounts will especially be in areas where high levels of fat were lost. Reconstructive surgery can be used to help with getting the body to adjust to its new shape and to help with getting excess skin amounts to be reduced so that the body will look and feel better in its new shape.

Some parts of the body that were forced to adjust to massive weight gains will need to have surgery performed on them as well. Some joints that had deal with high levels of pressure through weight may need to be operated on. This is done to help with relieving these joints so that they will work properly in one's new body.

In some cases reconstructive processes will be needed to help with getting bones and other muscles to move into their new spots so that it will be easier for the body to work properly. This is because with less fat around the body some areas will have a harder time than others with adjusting to their new spots.

There are various parts of the body that will be worked on in reconstructive surgery after bariatric surgery. The abdomen is the most commonly worked upon part but the breasts, thighs and arms can be worked on as well. Some leg muscles will need to be built back up as well.

For the best bariatric surgery results reconstructive surgery will need to take place about fifteen months after the initial bariatric surgery occurs. This is needed because it can take this amount of time for the full weight loss results of this surgery to appear.

Reconstructive surgery after bariatric surgery is something that is very helpful to look into. This form of surgery is needed because even with the great bariatric surgery results that can be involved the body may not look or work at its best. Excessive amounts of skin will need to be removed and some repairs to muscles and joints may be required. This form of surgery is something to use to help with getting one's body image to be substantially improved upon after bariatric surgery.
